    Julia, thank you for sharing this. I first became aware of this article on Terri’s Facebook site, and I wrote a comment in reply on the Newsday site. It’s hard to believe that a religious leader would actually tell people that it’s a bad idea to focus on the afterlife. It seems to me that most religions stay in business by encouraging people to think about their eternal lives, but it’s a bad idea to try to “breach the barrier?” I laughingly commented to a friend that perhaps religious leaders don’t want their flocks to contact the dead because the dead might tell them the truth about the afterlife!

        And by the way, I’ve worked with an awful lot of dead people who are either enraged, dismayed, confused, or relieved that what religions taught them is not true.
